Physician Wellness Steering Committee
UC San Diego began formally building the Physician Wellness Infrastructure in 2022. The Wellness Oversight Committee (led by Dr. C. Kane) established the Physician Wellness Steering Committee. The Director of Sanford Institute for Compassionate Communication, William Mobley MD, has also convened a Wellness Task Force that was instrumental in preparing the institution for building a formal, strong infrastructure. The scope of work is focused on the 2700 UC San Diego physicians (1700 attending plus 1000 residents/fellow). The committee was charged and began meeting in January 2022. The current members of the committee include:

The Physician Wellness Steering Committee also invited the Council of Clinical Chairs and Department Wellness Director Committee to nominate liaisons. Ruth Waterman, MD, Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, serves as the Chair liaison. Byron Fergerson, MD, Chair of the Department Wellness Director Committee, serves as the DWD liaison. Mojgan Hosseini, MD, Chair Elect of the Board of Governors, serves as a BoG liaison. These representatives meet monthly with the Steering Committee to facilitate exchange of information.
